In Pyxis ES Versions 1.3.4 through to 1.6.1 and Pyxis Enterprise Server, with Windows Server Versions 4.4 through 4.12, a vulnerability has been identified where existing access privileges are not restricted in coordination with the expiration of access based on active directory user account changes when the device is joined to an AD domain.

Weakness

Authenticating a user, or otherwise establishing a new user session, without invalidating any existing session identifier gives an attacker the opportunity to steal authenticated sessions.

Affected Software

Name Vendor Start Version End Version
Pyxis_enterprise_server Bd 4.4 (including) 4.12 (including)
Pyxis_es Bd 1.3.4 (including) 1.6.1 (including)

Extended Description

Such a scenario is commonly observed when:

In the generic exploit of session fixation vulnerabilities, an attacker creates a new session on a web application and records the associated session identifier. The attacker then causes the victim to associate, and possibly authenticate, against the server using that session identifier, giving the attacker access to the user’s account through the active session.
