Check Point Endpoint Security Initial Client for Windows before version E81.30 tries to load a DLL placed in any PATH location on a clean image without Endpoint Client installed. An attacker can leverage this to gain LPE using a specially crafted DLL placed in any PATH location accessible with write permissions to the user.

Weakness

Executing commands or loading libraries from an untrusted source or in an untrusted environment can cause an application to execute malicious commands (and payloads) on behalf of an attacker.

Affected Software

Name Vendor Start Version End Version
Capsule_docs_standalone_client Checkpoint * e80.20 (excluding)
Endpoint_security Checkpoint * e81.30 (excluding)
Remote_access_clients Checkpoint * e81.30 (excluding)

Extended Description

Process control vulnerabilities of the first type occur when either data enters the application from an untrusted source and the data is used as part of a string representing a command that is executed by the application. By executing the command, the application gives an attacker a privilege or capability that the attacker would not otherwise have.
