InHand Networks IR615 Routers Versions 2.3.0.r4724 and 2.3.0.r4870 have has no account lockout policy configured for the login page of the product. This may allow an attacker to execute a brute-force password attack with no time limitation and without harming the normal operation of the user. This could allow an attacker to gain valid credentials for the product interface.

Weakness

The product does not implement sufficient measures to prevent multiple failed authentication attempts within a short time frame, making it more susceptible to brute force attacks.

Affected Software

Name Vendor Start Version End Version
Ir615_firmware Inhandnetworks 2.3.0.r4724 (including) 2.3.0.r4724 (including)

Potential Mitigations

  • Common protection mechanisms include:

  • Use a vetted library or framework that does not allow this weakness to occur or provides constructs that make this weakness easier to avoid.

  • Consider using libraries with authentication capabilities such as OpenSSL or the ESAPI Authenticator. [REF-45]
