OpenZepplin is a library for smart contract development. In affected versions a vulnerability in TimelockController allowed an actor with the executor role to escalate privileges. Further details about the vulnerability will be disclosed at a later date. As a workaround revoke the executor role from accounts not strictly under the teams control. We recommend revoking all executors that are not also proposers. When applying this mitigation, ensure there is at least one proposer and executor remaining.

Weakness

The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor.

Affected Software

Name Vendor Start Version End Version
Contracts Openzeppelin 3.3.0 (including) 3.4.2 (excluding)
Contracts Openzeppelin 4.0.0 (including) 4.3.1 (excluding)
