In the Linux kernel before 5.16.3, drivers/scsi/ufs/ufs-mediatek.c misinterprets the regulator_get return value (expects it to be NULL in the error case, whereas it is actually an error pointer).
A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit.
