An improper authentication vulnerability was identified in GitHub Enterprise Server that allowed an unauthorized actor to modify other users secret gists by authenticating through an SSH certificate authority. To do so, a user had to know the secret gists URL. This vulnerability affected all versions of GitHub Enterprise Server prior to 3.9 and was fixed in versions 3.4.18, 3.5.15, 3.6.11, 3.7.8, and 3.8.1. This vulnerability was reported via the GitHub Bug Bounty program.
When an actor claims to have a given identity, the product does not prove or insufficiently proves that the claim is correct.
