formula is a math and string formula parser. In versions prior to 3.0.1 crafted user-provided strings to formulas parser might lead to polynomial execution time and a denial of service. Users should upgrade to 3.0.1+. There are no known workarounds for this vulnerability.

Weakness

The product uses a regular expression with an inefficient, possibly exponential worst-case computational complexity that consumes excessive CPU cycles.

Affected Software

Name Vendor Start Version End Version
Formula Hapi * 3.0.1 (excluding)

Extended Description

Attackers can create crafted inputs that
intentionally cause the regular expression to use
excessive backtracking in a way that causes the CPU
	  consumption to spike.
