Deserialization of Untrusted Data Vulnerability in Apache Software Foundation Apache InLong. This issue affects Apache InLong: from 1.4.0 through 1.7.0.

The attacker could bypass the current logic and achieve arbitrary file reading. To solve it, users are advised to upgrade to Apache InLongs 1.8.0 or cherry-pick https://github.com/apache/inlong/pull/8130 .

Weakness

The product deserializes untrusted data without sufficiently ensuring that the resulting data will be valid.

Affected Software

NameVendorStart VersionEnd Version
InlongApache1.4.0 (including)1.7.0 (including)

Potential Mitigations

  • Make fields transient to protect them from deserialization.
  • An attempt to serialize and then deserialize a class containing transient fields will result in NULLs where the transient data should be. This is an excellent way to prevent time, environment-based, or sensitive variables from being carried over and used improperly.
