Mattermost fails to use  innerText / textContent when setting the channel name in the webapp during autocomplete, allowing an attacker to inject HTML to a victims page by create a channel name that is valid HTML. No XSS is possible though.

Weakness

The product constructs all or part of a command, data structure, or record using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify how it is parsed or interpreted when it is sent to a downstream component.
