Unsafe Deserialization of User Input could lead to Execution of Unauthorized Operations in Ivanti Endpoint Manager 2022 su3 and all previous versions, which could allow an attacker to execute commands remotely.

Weakness

The product deserializes untrusted data without sufficiently ensuring that the resulting data will be valid.

Affected Software

Name Vendor Start Version End Version
Endpoint_manager Ivanti * 2022 (excluding)
Endpoint_manager Ivanti 2022 (including) 2022 (including)
Endpoint_manager Ivanti 2022-su1 (including) 2022-su1 (including)
Endpoint_manager Ivanti 2022-su2 (including) 2022-su2 (including)
Endpoint_manager Ivanti 2022-su3 (including) 2022-su3 (including)

Potential Mitigations

  • Make fields transient to protect them from deserialization.
  • An attempt to serialize and then deserialize a class containing transient fields will result in NULLs where the transient data should be. This is an excellent way to prevent time, environment-based, or sensitive variables from being carried over and used improperly.
