A Java deserialisation vulnerability has been discovered in Jaspersoft Library. Improper handling of externally supplied data may allow attackers to execute arbitrary code remotely on systems that use the affected library

Weakness

The product deserializes untrusted data without sufficiently ensuring that the resulting data will be valid.

Affected Software

NameVendorStart VersionEnd Version
Jasperreports_ioCloud*4.0.0 (including)
Jasperreports_libraryCloud*7.0.3 (including)
Jasperreports_libraryCloud*9.0.2 (including)
Jasperreports_serverCloud*9.0.0 (including)
Jasperreports_studioCloud*7.0.3 (including)
Jasperreports_studioCloud*9.0.2 (including)
Jasperreports_web_studioCloud*3.0.1 (including)

Potential Mitigations

  • Make fields transient to protect them from deserialization.
  • An attempt to serialize and then deserialize a class containing transient fields will result in NULLs where the transient data should be. This is an excellent way to prevent time, environment-based, or sensitive variables from being carried over and used improperly.
