The User Registration & Membership WordPress plugin before 5.2.3 does not validate that the membership tier submitted during public registration is one of the tiers allowed by the registration form before assigning that tiers associated user role, allowing unauthenticated users to register into an arbitrary published membership tier and obtain its role — up to administrator when such a tier exists.
Weakness
The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor.
